| Skirmish | Skirmish | An attack by 4 Mechs/Vehicles infantry is allowed. Used to establish a beachhead on the planet. Typically 2 or 3 Skirmishes are required to allow Assault operations. |
| Assault | Assault | An attack by 4 Mechs/Vehicles infantry is allowed. Used to take a significant portion of the land. Requires the attacker to have at least some foothold on the planet. |
| Pillage | Pillage | An attack by 4 Mechs/Vehicles infantry is allowed. Used to raid a factory world to capture a unit. |
| Aero | Aero Sortie | An aerospace-only attack of 2 or more aero units. |
| Black Water Navy | Large-scale aero battle involving assault drop ships. |
